Quick life hack if you often find yourself losing stuff, either physically or digitally, which I still do all the time, but it's way less likely if I use this. It's all about trusting your past self. Whenever you're about to put something away, just stop for a couple of extra seconds. And rather than put it in the spot that makes the most sense based on where you are right now, instead think about where it would make the most sense for that thing to be. It's a subtle distinction, but it's the difference between putting your headphones case corner shelf versus putting your headphones case in the drawer with your other headphones. And it doesn't even have to make that much sense. But the point is that later on when you're trying to remember where you put it, if you stop and think, huh, where would have been the most sensible place for me to put it? And then you look and you find it there? It's a great feeling. And I try to do this digitally as well. So I've got this whole folder structure on my computer. And let's say I'm looking for some audio clip, like a song that my girlfriend sang. for the message that she sent it to me in or my documents downloads folder. But when this happened to be earlier today, I was thinking, okay, where would it have been the most sensible to put that clip? And I look in my music folder. Then I look under the name Shira, and then I look at Shira's songs. And I see, hey, look, I actually put it there last time. And here it is. Might seem like no duh, but it really helps.
