Here's some science I wish I knew before I was in my 30s. Stop adding avocados to your eggs in the same meal. If you do, it'll seriously mess with your skin in the long run. Let's explore why. Welcome back to 30 Studies to Change Your Life. Bizarre Nutrition Week. I love avocados and have always enjoyed combining them with eggs when making sandwiches, wraps, toast, to add a nice, healthy dose of protein and fat-soluble vitamins. Until I read this study. on skin health is actually our microbiome, and not just the gut microbiome, but also the bacteria that live on our skin. A lot of acne is caused by the bacteria, Propione bacterium ac... Propione...propioni bacterium acnes. Species which normally feeds off of the fatty sebum that's produced by our skin that keeps it waterproof. Turns out that's not all they feed on. Eggs contain an enzyme called veridicinase that reacts with one of the fats and avocados to produce a chemical called lambasate, which acts as a bacterial superfood, eating both the acne bacteria and another species called hocus logisophage. Researchers gave participants a daily breakfast of eggs, avocados, or a combination thereof for a long period of time, and they measured the bacterial populations on the skin and a whole bunch of visual skin parameters. Both of the separate groups did great, which makes sense because eggs and avocado are both pretty healthy. But did the combined group over time, something weird happened. First, the acne-bacteria populations began to explode, causing breakouts. But then the hocus logisciopphage began to multiply, and the skin started slowly changing color. And they began putting on weight and eventually began to look like this. Gotcha. And if you made it this far, I have a job for you. Comment something down below about how great the study was or how it's now changed your breakfast behavior for eating habits. And then send this video to a friend who has a bad habit of jumping to conclusions before reading the full article or watching the full video.
