The Raw Meat Experiment: Can It Really Work?

Doctors cannot explain how the hell this man is still alive. But maybe a scientist can't. A staggering 800 days ago, John, who had been a vegan for the past 10 years, decided to start a raw meat experiment to see how long he would survive. Now because he's eaten pretty much every raw meat available over the last two years and has not been sick once, his new science experiment involves eating raw chicken every day until he gets a tummy ache or worse. Any science experiment where one of the endpoints is maybe I'll get sick or possibly die, probably doesn't deserve that label, or at least needs a much bigger, redder label slapped on top of it. I've got a framework for determining which n-equals-1 experiments I'll try on myself, and this is so far out into the red zone. He explained to be that he started the experiment because he had a number of health problems on his plant-based diets, like back pain, dizziness, cystic acne, and since switching to brains and testicles and becoming the real liver king, all of those problems have gone away. How is this possible? I know many of you have been asking this question, and there are some possibilities. Welcome back to What the Science, Mad Chicken Edition. The short version. If you're a real nerd, stay tuned for the long, sciencey version here and on the tubes. So here's my theory. Predators, like lions, and even cats and dogs, can be perfectly healthy on a fully raw meat diet. This is due to a combination of having more acidic stomachs that kill off bacteria, shorter digestive tracts which give them less time to multiply, different beneficial bacteria in their gut that help with the digestion, with their immune systems. Humans lost many of these qualities as they evolved alongside fire use over the course of the last 2 million years. Maybe raw meat John is a genetic outlier with a more acidic stomach or shorter intestine, which also could have made him feel worse on a vegan diet. Or maybe his long, raw beef experiment let his body adapt somewhat in this direction, as well as develop a microbiome full of bacteria that help him break down the raw meat and fight invaders. Studies have shown this happening in cats and dogs when they get switched to a raw meat diet. chickens means that there's a lot less bacteria to start with for his body to have to handle, or maybe he's just really lucky and that's going to run out soon. But I hope not. John, I hope you stay healthy, and everyone else do not try this at home. And watch the full vid for the best theory.

Additional notes

@Dylan Page @Raw Meat Guy How can he eat raw meat and stay healthy? What were your theories? I saved my favorite for the full vid ;) On a related note, as part of my research for this video I came across some cool studies that lead me to develop a new theory for why living with dogs is healthy! Video coming at some point. #science
