There are 30 cows in the field and 28 chickens. How many didn't? It doesn't make sense, Joe. Oh, I think I got it. If you fell for this, it's not your fault. Here's why. Let's review a cool illusion that went mega viral a couple years ago and some fun science. I'm going to play a sound for you, and I want you to comment down below what word you hear. Ready? Got it? Wrote it? Now let me play it again. I bet most of you just heard it say, But now I'm going to play it a third time. Brigham. Did anyone not hear it say brainstorm? This is closely related to a perceptual illusion called the McGurk effect, where the visual information that your brain sees actually changes the way that it perceives a sound. It's more likely to happen when the audio is somewhat distorted, and so your brain starts looking for other information that it can use to help interpret it. But this is very similar to why this joke was able to fool so many people. Because of the text on screen, I'll admit I had to watch the video twice before I got it. How many they want? I think I got it. What's the answer? You want me to tell you the answer? Yeah. 10? Follow for more cool science.

Replying to @Mrs Nomthandazo Here’s the neuroscience behind why this is hsrd! Did you get it? And which word(s) did you hear first? The brainstorm / green needle audio originally came from a 2014 YouTube video from DosmRider, a toy reviewer. It was from a toy NAMED “Brainstorm,” which is what it was supposed to be saying. Funny how these things can randomly happen. 📚 Research Papers: doi:10.1038/264746a0 doi: 10.1016/j.neuroimage.2011.07.024 #science #jokes #neuroscience #psychology
